On-Site Backup
|
On-site backup solutions such as backup to tape are generally used when there is a large amount of data to backup regularly. The vulnerability of on-site backup is that any calamity, such as a fire, intrusion or water damage, that that causes the loss of the original data can also cause the loss of the backup data. This vulnerability can be overcome by keeping one or more sets of backed up data off site. For backup to tape, this usually means rotating the backup tapes between an off-site storage location and the site where the original data is stored/backed up. |
