An Online (remote) Backup Service is a service that provides users with an online system for backing up and storing computer files and settings. Managed backup providers like BrightVisions are companies that provide this type of service. The BrightVisions Online Backup System is built around the BrightVisions BackupManager, which runs on in the background or to a pre-defined schedule. This program collects, compresses, encrypts, and transfers the data to the remote backup servers where it is stored securely and backed-up again. Only the customer can then access and retrieve the data, as the data can only be read using the encryption key (password) which the customer keeps. |

Bandwidth is measurement of data transfer, that is, a rate of data transfer, measured in bits per second (bps). It may be useful to think of the bandwidth of a device or service as the throughput of data that that device or service can offer or handle. |
|
A Bit is a binary digit, taking a value of either 0 or 1. There are 8 bits in a byte. Bits per second (bps) is used to measure the speed of a internet connection device or service such as broadband. |
